BUFFALO, NY (March 7) - Small Enterprise Alliance of WNY (SEAWNY) board president Damon Piatek announced today that the organization has an agreement to partner with Austin-based Small Business Festival to bring their 2017 expansion to Western New York. The event will take place at various locations around the Buffalo Niagara region on May 1-5 as a part of national Small Business Week.

"Last year, in a list published by Business First, Buffalo Niagara ranked 89th out of 106 metro areas rated in the vitality of our small business environment," said Piatek. "As small business people, our members at SEAWNY know that we have such a better story to tell, given the chance. We are excited beyond belief to have the opportunity to partner with the Small Business Festival, and be one of just a few metro areas that are able to take advantage of their exciting expansion this year. This is going to be an invigorating event for small businesses and the region, as we put Buffalo Niagara on the map as a place where small business is thriving."

Recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of the Top 5 conferences for small business growth in the U.S. in 2016, Small Business Festival attracted more than 1,200 attendees in its first year, and enjoys the full support of its primary sponsor, Capital One. Buffalo Niagara will host a series of events May 1-2 throughout the region, and then components of Austin's premiere event, which kicks off on May 3, will be Livestreamed at various venues in Western New York. Representatives of SEAWNY will be attending Austin's event as part of the collaboration.

Small Business Festival is excited to partner with SEAWNY to provide the Buffalo Niagara region a series of events focused on small business," said Matthew Pollard, founder and president of Small Business Festival. "Our goal in this collaboration is to create a forum for thousands of local small business owners to get out of their isolation and learn the tools they need to make their small businesses a success. ."

The Festival has three core focuses:

  • Celebrate and showcase Buffalo Niagara small business success stories
  • Educate through people that have built successful businesses, sharing ideas and strategies for success
  • Inspire small business owners to learn new skills so that they can charge forward!

More details on locations, topics and speakers will be available soon.
